Thank you for your interest in helping our paws and organization! We SO appreciate help as it takes a village to do this work, we look forward to having you join us!

We kindly ask that all prospective volunteers fill out our volunteer packet. Download it here or send us an email at azk9org@gmail.com requesting the forms and we will gladly send them your way!

After we have received your packet, we ask that you sign up for an orientation. We try to offer one weekend and one weeknight orientation per month for your convenience.

Because we are not set up like a traditional shelter environment at the moment, our volunteer experience may differ greatly from what you may be used to. The following is a list of our volunteer opportunities we need your help with!

  1. Dogs Day Out: Most of our dogs live in our 2 foster homes, the most critical need we have is getting our dogs out of the house for exercise, socialization, and enrichment. Some ideas include: taking them on walks around the neighborhood or for a hike, plan a coffee date where they can enjoy quality time with you, head to a pet supply store to buy a new toy and shop around.

  2. Networking & Exposure: We always can use extra support in sharing, networking, and otherwise getting the word out about our adoptable dogs. It could be creating flyers to hang around town, finding businesses who would share on their social media or invite us to bring a dog for a day, finding untapped local events we can bring dogs too or set up a booth at. We need fresh ideas and creativity!

  3. Get Social With Us: Do you have social media accounts? By following us on Instagram and Facebook and regularly liking, sharing, and commenting on our posts, you easily increase our daily outreach and engagement to potential volunteers, donors, and adopters! It's easy and  fun!

  4. Pawsitive Time: We care for a lot of dogs on a daily basis, so any help we can get working one on one to train our dogs truly goes a long way to fully preparing them for a forever family. Choose a favorite dog and focus regular time on positive reinforcement training for basic commands and general manners. This helps so much in getting them adopted!

  5. Donation Drive: Host a donation drive! Whether it be a party, at a workplace or classroom, or just among friends. Collect monetary or in-kind donations to support our daily operations. Click here to visit our donation page to learn more:

  6. Put the Fun in Fundraise: Are you creative? Do you enjoy planning parties or get togethers? Jump in and plan a fundraiser! Whether it be a private event to raise funding for us or a collaboration event, every bit makes a big difference!

  7. Squeaky Clean: You know what no one loves? A stinky dog! Our dogs regularly, run, swim, hike and play in grass and mud so you can imagine how long it takes to bathe all the pups in our care. We have a bath station at both houses and an account at Posh Wash where you could take a dog for a bath as well. It's not a glamorous job, but it makes wonderful difference for the dogs and the people who meet them!

  8. Run it Out: We host many annual events, but one of our biggest and longest running events is Running for the Bulls, a 10k, 5k, and and family fun run/walk we host in October. We need help looking for sponsorships, coordinating, and advertising for this event each year.

  9. Clinic Days:  Most Thursdays you will find our President, Courtney, in downtown Phoenix running our free spay and neuter clinic for targeted zip codes. The clinic usually runs 7am to 2pm. We need help organizing pet owners in order of appointment time, getting them information they need, and later discharging each patient after surgery. Spanish speakers are especially needed for these events! Clinic Days are so effective to reducing pet overpopulation and you will meet some amazing families and pets, as well as walk away feeling great that 40-50 more pets are sterilized and vaccinated each week!

  10. Happily Ever After: We cannot attend adoption events without the support and participation of our awesome volunteers! We try to regularly attend adoption events around town and will announce upcoming events and opportunities on our Volunteer Group page via Facebook. We can also email or call you if this is a specific opportunity you are interested in.
